I love that this one is two sided, with a really different colour and grain on each side. This comes from being taken from the outer edge of the tree, where the ‘sap wood’ holds a golden tone. Somehow the carving on this feels like furniture design, and I can’t even explain why. But the curves and detail react to light and shade so so well.
